Introduction
My name is Elizabeth Garrett King, and this is my graduate portfolio for my Masters of Education in Media, Instructional Technology concentration. I began my time at the University of West Georgia in the spring of 2011, took one semester off in the spring of 2012, and am now excited yet sad to be finishing my degree. I have thoroughly enjoyed each of my courses and hope someday to return to earn my Specialists degree.
My journey to the realm of technology in education was a bit circuitous, having received my undergraduate degrees in English and biology, but after working as an Audio-Visual/Information Technology specialist at the Atlanta Speech School for several years I realized my passion is technology professional development and support for educators. I believe strongly in just-in-time professional development and working with teachers to determine how, exactly, technology will benefit their students. With this degree I have increased my technical knowledge, been introduced to several new and exciting technology developments (distance education, the explosion of web 2.0 tools), and furthered my knowledge of pedagogy, research, and instructional design. I will take and apply all of this knowledge in future career endeavors.
In this portfolio are several artifacts that support my mastery of the ISTE-NETS for teachers. Projects include multimedia presentations, web pages, research papers, and professional development materials. Please use the drop-down menu to examine my artifacts, information, and reflection for each standard. Furthermore, I have included my overall reflections, future plans, and a resume. Thank you!
